CRAFTS
For individuals
- Start up – to encourage new makers with a high level of creativity and skill, who have a viable development plan, to establish themselves as practitioners in Scotland. Funding is available to assist with maintenance and the cost of equipment for production.
Minimum £3,000 – maximum £8,000
- Creative Development – to encourage established makers to create new work. Funding is available to buy time and/or additional equipment to develop work in new directions and promote the results.
Minimum £5,000 – maximum £10,000
For organizations
- Projects/Exhibitions – support for organizations to undertake projects which will result in improvement to the quality of crafts exhibitions and related educational programmes which are shown, initiated and circulated in Scotland. This is a transitional year with significantly reduced funds whilst SAC develop the new strategic Curatorial and Programme Development Fund, so grants will be limited to a maximum of £5,000.
Minimum £500 – Maximum £5,000
DANCE
For individuals:
- Creative Development – support for independent choreographers to research and develop ideas for new work. Maximum grant: £8,000 for established artists; £2,000 for emerging artists who have not previously received Scottish Arts Council funding.
Organisations
- Professional dance companies and organisations to produce, present and tour dance to audiences in Scotland. SAC wish to encourage a wide range of dance, including work that is created or presented using new media. Minimum grant: £5,000 – no maximum
DRAMA
For individuals:
- New Work – support is available for projects by Scottish-based established or new artists to develop work to the stage of public presentation. You must present at least two public performances, although these do not need to be full-scale productions. For example, they could be works-in-progress or rehearsed readings.
Typical maximum £10,250
For organisations
- Touring and Production – SAC aim to support a range of high quality theatre in small-and mid-scale venues throughout Scotland which will ensure access by audiences. Funds are available for both touring and non-touring productions.
Minimum £500 – normal maximum award £66,200 without a commission, or £66,200 plus 80% of the appropriate FST/SSP commission rate
- New Work – there are three types of support available through this fund. Companies can apply for any one of these elements, or for a combination
of commissioning and script development.
- New work development – support is available for projects by Scottish-based established or new companies or artists to develop work to the stage of public presentation. You must present at least two public performances, although these do not need to be full-scale productions. For example, they could be works-in-progress or rehearsed readings. The typical maximum award for this will be £10,250.
- Commissioning a playwright – support is available for companies to enable them to commission a playwright, and also apply for an additional award to support the development of the script. Companies can apply for 80% of the appropriate FST/SSP commission fee.
- Script development – support is available for companies to develop new writing, with or without a commission. There is no requirement to present the results of this development to the public.
The typical maximum award for this will be £3,600
LITERATURE
For individuals:
- Creative Development - Writers’ Bursaries – assistance to enable writers of literary work, playwrights and storytellers to devote more time to their work.
Minimum £1,500 – maximum £15,000
For organisations:
- Publications: to assist established Scottish-based publishers of books and magazines with the publication of works of literary/cultural merit that represent some financial risk.
Books
Minimum £500 – maximum £5,000
Magazines
While there is no fixed minimum or maximum level of grant, awards are likely to be in the range £2,000 – £14,000
