Your Heritage - Grants: £5,000 to £50,000

Your Heritage provides grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 to support community-focused heritage projects.

Please Note: The Your Heritage programme is changing in 2008. You can apply using the current Your Heritage application pack up to 30 June 2008. New Your Heritage application materials and guidance will be available from 1 April 2008. You can apply using the new pack at any time from 1 April 2008 onwards. To qualify for a grant your project should either:

• conserve and enhance our diverse heritage or
• encourage communities to identify, look after and celebrate their heritage.

The project must also:

• increase opportunities for learning about heritage; and
• open up heritage resources and sites to the widest possible audiences. These can include caring for the natural landscape, conserving historic buildings, places and objects, involving people in exploring local cultures, traditions, languages and ways of life.

Heritage Grants - Grants £50,000 plus

This programme offers grants of £50,000 or more. Projects should look after and enhance the UK's heritage; to increase involvement in heritage activities; and to improve accesss to and enjoyment of heritage. This programme offers grants of £50,000 or more.

Please Note: The Heritage Grants programme is changing in 2008. You can apply using the current Heritage Grants application pack up to 31 March 2008, with a decision on your Stage 1 or single stage application by September 2008. We will close Project Planning Grants on 31 March 2008.

New Heritage Grants application materials and guidance will be available from 1 April 2008. You can apply using the new pack at any time from April 2008 onwards. We will start assessing first round applications under the new programme on 1 September 2008 with first decisions in December 2008.

The current Heritage Grants programme for awards over £5 million is now closed. From 2008-2009 we will have one major batch application deadline a year on 30 September. Applicants in 2008 will receive a first-round decision in February 2009.

To receive a grant projects must:

• conserve and enhance our diverse heritage, or
• encourage more people to be involved in their heritage, or both.

All projects must also:

make sure that everyone can learn about, have access to and enjoy their heritage.

Projects might include nature conservation, historic buildings, museum collections, archive collections, spoken history records, cultural traditions, and objects and sites relating to the UK’s industrial, transport and maritime history.

Young Roots - Grants £5,000 to £25,000

Young Roots offers grants of between £5,000 and £25,000. The scheme aims to involve 13-20 year-olds (up to 25 for those with special needs) in finding out about their heritage, developing skills, building confidence and promoting community involvement. Young Roots projects stem directly from young peoples' interests and ideas, harnessing their creativity and energy and helping them work with others in their local community.

Landscape Partnerships - Grants £250,000 to £2 million

It caters for applications based round a portfolio of projects, which combine to provide a varied package of benefits to an area, its communities which live, work and visit there.

The initiative will mainly help us to promote heritage conservation as an integral part of rural regeneration.

Please Note: The Landscape Partnerships programme is changing in 2008. You can apply using the current Landscape Partnerships application pack, for your stage one application, for one further round - 31 March 2008. We will assess your application through our two-stage process. The deadline for Project Planning Grant schemes is now closed.
