Comenius

  • Promotes the learning of European languages and culture.
  • Both teachers and pupils can benefit.
  • Most projects must have at least 5 partners in different European countries.
  • Targets schools and further education establishments.

3 Broad activity types

  • Comenius School Partnerships: Working with other schools across Europe can bring learning alive for pupils and teachers.
  • Comenius In-service Training: Need to improve your skills or looking for a challenge outside the classroom? An EU funded training course or job shadowing activity could be the answer.
  • Comenius Assistants: Your school or college could host an assistant to help develop the European dimension in the curriculum.

Erasmus

Funding for students/teachers to teach/learn in another European country for a year.

There has been a shortage of students / teachers from the UK applying for this programme

ERASMUS can provide a great learning and life experience.  

Erasmus Mundus aims to promote the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world, by attracting high quality students from countries outside the European Union to register for Masters Degrees

Leonardo Da Vinci

Funds overseas work placements and the development of training materials.

Objective of improving the provision of Vocational Education and Training (VET) across Europe.

Exchange best practice, increase the expertise of their staff and develop the skills of learners by European partnerships

Grundtvig

Aims to respond to the educational challenge of an ageing population in Europe.

Helps provide adults with pathways to improving their knowledge and competencies.

Normally needs at least 3 European partner organisations.

Aims to support European co-operation in education and training of all kinds and to promote the quality of education and training systems across Europe.

Any organisation involved in education and training can participate in the programme. Participation involves working with European partners in a variety of different projects.

Transversal funds seminars and study visits to different European countries .

Jean Monnet

Aims to stimulate teaching and research in the field of European integration studies at the level of higher education institutions.

The purpose is to enhance knowledge and awareness of issues relating to European integration.

Support the institutions focusing on issues relating to European integration and on education and training in a European perspective
