News Article COMMUNITY RENEWABLE ENERGY GRANTS - Posted: Mar 15, 2010
The Naturesave Trust, which was set up in 1995, to fund specific
environmental and conservation projects throughout the UK and to
encourage the greater adoption of sustainable development, especially
within the Small and Medium Sized business community (SMEs) has
announced that it now provides start up ''seed corn'' grants for community
renewable energy projects. The Trust are keen to help communities, in
particular, that do not have the initial start up capital to undertake
all the preliminary work to get to the planning stage and most
importantly for the community to retain as much control as possible over
the operating income once the project has been successful. Recently
funded projects by the Trust include Pilling St John''s Primary School
which received funding towards the installation of a wind turbine at the
school, providing energy and income to the school and Trees for Health
which received funding from the Trust to set up green woodworking area
to utilise local coppice wood in Devon.
